Outer Thinking offers a thought-provoking and contemporary exploration of leadership, bringing together an inspiring assembly of 200+ business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians, and academics from both Sweden and the UK.
The Swedish-British Summit 2024, hosted by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK in London, was a day dedicated to exploring groundbreaking ideas and embracing disruption. Under the theme “Outer Thinking!”, the summit brought together thought leaders from Sweden and the UK to discuss possibilities for the future.
Nik Gowing, founder of Thinking the Unthinkable, delivered insightful contributions throughout and expertly moderated the event. As the Master of Ceremonies, Gowing guided attendees through a day packed with innovative sessions and interactive experiences, challenging them to think beyond conventional boundaries and imagine new ways forward for business, science, and society.
The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Charlotte New and Ted Hill from the Royal Institution, who presented live science demonstrations, and Tom Standage from The Economist, who offered insights into what the world might look like in 2025. The summit also delved into topics such as resilience in business, sustainability, and authentic leadership, with sessions led by leaders from companies like SAS Scandinavian Airlines, Volvo Car UK, and Danske Bank.
Throughout the day, participants were encouraged to engage with hands-on experiences, including live experiments and interactive demos, aimed at sparking creativity and deeper thinking about the future. These sessions, combined with Gowing’s moderating expertise, made for a day of reflection, inspiration, and forward-thinking conversations.
The event concluded with reflections from Nik Gowing and Hélène Barnekow of Gaia Leadership, summarizing the day’s discussions and challenging attendees to leave behind outdated mental models and embrace a future of innovation.
