In a world grappling with unprecedented challenges—from climate change to growing inequality—leaders are facing a critical moment. The question is: will they step up?
In our latest episode, Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Co-President of the Club of Rome, explains why bold leadership is not just necessary, but urgent, to reshape our future.
The Current Crisis: Systems Are Breaking Down
The systems we depend on are rapidly failing. Climate change, inequality, and leadership inertia are compounding the global crisis. Sandrine emphasises that although the solutions exist, what’s missing is the collective will to act. We can no longer afford to ignore the connection between these challenges; they are all interlinked and must be tackled together.
“Now is the time for bold leadership,” Sandrine says, highlighting the urgent need for change in both political and economic systems. The status quo is no longer sustainable, and we risk an even greater future crisis if action isn’t taken.
Why Bold Leadership Is Essential
As Sandrine explains, leadership today is about rethinking old models and embracing change. The traditional economic systems that have led us to this point must be abandoned. Bold leadership isn’t just about making decisions; it’s about creating a roadmap for systemic transformation that addresses both climate and inequality.
“The age of bold leadership is here,” she asserts. “What’s missing is the courage to act.”
This is a call to leaders everywhere: act decisively, and act now, before the consequences are irreversible.
The Call for Action: Can Business Lead the Transition?
One of the central themes of the discussion is whether businesses can drive the change required to avert climate disaster. While some industries have begun to take meaningful action, others remain hesitant, concerned about short-term political or financial pressures. Sandrine urges leaders to focus on long-term transformation.
“Businesses need to stop worrying about short-term politics,” she states. “The long-term solutions are clear, and now it’s time to act.”
The business sector holds the power to lead the way toward a sustainable and fair future—if only leaders have the will to make the tough decisions now.
