In December, the Policy Center for the New South hosted the 13th Edition of the Atlantic Dialogues in Rabat, Morocco—a powerful gathering of over 300 global leaders, policymakers, and experts.
Held from the 12th to 14th, the event brought together diverse voices from across the Atlantic Basin to address the urgent challenges shaping the future of its four interconnected continents.

Engaging Conversations on Global Leadership
The opening session, moderated by Nik Gowing, set the tone for three days of transformative dialogue. With contributions from 25 participants in just 45 minutes, the Town Hall-style discussions were dynamic and thought-provoking.
Leaders delved into the Atlantic Basin’s most urgent issues, from navigating new disruptions and uncertainties to fostering policy innovation and resilience in the face of growing challenges.
One highlight was the Thursday session, described as a “giant conversation” where participants offered radical and forward-thinking ideas on handling disruptions.
It became clear that traditional approaches could no longer suffice in addressing the complex and interconnected issues affecting the Atlantic region.
Vision for a Resilient Future
The Atlantic Dialogues 2024 emphasised rethinking policies and strategies to build a more resilient future. Key themes included the importance of cross-continental collaboration, addressing climate change, embracing technological advancements, and empowering the next generation of leaders to steer the region toward sustainable development.
The event concluded with a final Town Hall, moderated once again by Nik Gowing. This session captured the collective reflections and insights of the diverse participants. Leaders discussed bold, radical messages that could redefine the trajectory of the Atlantic Basin and emphasised the role of young leaders in driving transformative change. The session featured five distinguished panellists:Danielle Alakija, Rafael Schmuziger Goldwzeig, Asma Bachikh, Siphokazi Sibahle Sinalo Magadla and Swapneel Mehta.
